Job summary

Onterris, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to modernize CT LIMS. You will drive spec-first development, write tests before code, and use AI tools to accelerate reverse-engineering of a legacy system.

The role emphasizes architecture, cloud readiness, and cross-team collaboration with lab leadership and platform teams. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of software engineering, strong Azure fundamentals, and experience documenting software as code.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong cloud-native fundamentals (Azure preferred).
• Demonstrated practice with Spec-Driven and Test-Driven Development.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools.
• Ability to read, reverse-engineer and reason about unfamiliar legacy code.
• Documentation and diagrams as code (Markdown, Mermaid).
• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration.
• Flexible, resilient and curious.

Responsibilities

• Build through Spec-Driven Development, outlining design in Markdown and Mermaid.js before code.
• Deliver Test-First development with automated coverage and architectural guardrails.
• Use AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code) as force multipliers for archaeology and prototyping.
• Reverse-engineer and document the legacy LIMS system with module-level docs and diagrams.
• Contribute to architecture and cloud readiness within Azure landing zones and HA/hybrid patterns.
