Job summary

GitHub, Inc. is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the IT Engineering team. The role focuses on supporting a global workforce of Hubbers, building and maintaining internal tooling, and ensuring systems run securely and efficiently.

You’ll work across on-prem, cloud, and SaaS environments, driving automation and reliability. Strong GitHub and scripting skills are essential, with a distributed, remote-friendly culture and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in computer science or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python.
• 3+ years’ experience managing Collaboration/SaaS applications at scale.
• 2+ years’ experience of network administration (routers, switches, and/or firewalls).
• 2+ years’ experience of client platform engineering (laptops and/or mobile devices) utilizing MDM frameworks (e.g. Jamf, Intune).

Responsibilities

• Drive infrastructure automation for continuous improvement and IaC implementations.
• Support on-premises, SaaS, and cloud environments.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to enable automation and simplification.
• Develop and maintain sustainable systems and services through tooling and upgrades.
• Establish monitoring dashboards and runbooks for IT operations.
• Provide escalation support for deployed software and IT services.
• Participate in incident rotation and post-incident reviews.
• Communicate technical information clearly to stakeholders.
