Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Safety Process Engineer – AMR Design within the Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC) to lead the safety architecture of autonomous mobile robotics products. You will work across software, controls, electrical, and product teams to embed safety from concept through validation and certification.

You will own hazard analyses, risk assessments, safety requirements, and validation strategies, guiding design decisions and ensuring traceability and readiness for third-party

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and strong background in safety engineering or related field.
• Experience in functional safety across product development lifecycle.
• Experience with electromechanical systems and robotics safety requirements.
• Knowledge of ISO 13849, IEC 61508, ISO 12100, ISO 3691-4, ANSI B56.5, UL or related standards.
• Ability to produce structured engineering documentation for certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of safety architecture for autonomous mobile robot systems.
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to embed safety by design.
• Own hazard analyses, risk assessments and safety requirement specs.
• Drive safety reviews and ensure documentation supports third-party certification.
• Mentor engineers on robotics safety practices.
