Job summary

CompanyCam is a remote-first photo documentation and productivity app for contractors across industries. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails/React) to join our engineering team, mainly focusing on backend work while collaborating across frontend, mobile, design and product.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Ruby on Rails (and/or other MVC frameworks) and relational databases.
• Production experience with Redis, PostgreSQL, and Sidekiq.
• Experience contributing across the full stack (front-end, back-end, data layers).
• Experience leveraging AI to build or enhance tools and features.
• Ability to handle complex tasks and ambiguous problems without guidance.
• Strong collaboration and mentorship skills.
• Resident of the U.S. to work in CompanyCam's location requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and deliver complex features and systems in Rails, Postgres, GraphQL, REST; occasional React/React Native.
• Lead efforts to address technical debt and improve system reliability.
• Influence architecture and drive long-term improvements across services.
• Set high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation; mentor others.
• Improve internal tooling, CI/CD pipelines and monitoring for better developer experience.
• Facilitate technical discussions and decision-making with the team.
• Escalate complex challenges and unblock progress.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering to shape feature direction early in discovery.
