Job summary

HMH seeks a Senior Research Scientist in the US to join the Research and Policy Partnerships team. You will translate research into practical guidance for school districts and educators, lead research consulting engagements from scoping to delivery, and analyze large-scale assessment data in Snowflake using R, Python, SQL, or similar tools.

The role blends research rigor with real-world application and collaboration across HMH and NWEA.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Education, Educational Measurement, Public Policy, Economics, Psychology, or related field.
• 5+ years of educational research or research consultation.
• Experience with large-scale assessment or longitudinal data.
• Proficiency with R, Stata, Python, SQL; Tableau or data viz tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted research advisor to districts and researchers.
• Lead research consulting engagements from scoping to delivery.
• Use R, Python, or SQL to query and analyze large-scale data in Snowflake.
• Translate complex research into practical guidance for nontechnical audiences.
• Design and deliver partner-facing presentations and data visualizations.
• Collaborate with NWEA and HMH to develop reusable resources.
• Conduct rigorous applied research using large-scale assessment data.
• Communicate findings via reports, briefs, and presentations.
• Build relationships with educators, district leaders, researchers.
