Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Research Chemist with a focus on Synthetic Organic Chemistry for a fully remote role. You will design and execute multi-step syntheses, characterize new compounds, and contribute to discovery and development efforts from a home office.

The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, 5+ years of relevant experience, and excels in remote collaboration, scientific communication, and independent project management.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of post-doctoral or industrial research experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Experience planning and executing multi-step organic syntheses.
• Familiarity with spectroscopic and chromatographic characterization methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize novel organic molecules using modern synthetic methodologies.
• Develop and optimize synthetic routes for target compounds; troubleshoot as needed.
• Characterize compounds with NMR, MS, IR and HPLC/GC.
• Conduct literature searches for strategies and relevant research.
• Collaborate with remote colleagues via virtual meetings and shared platforms.
• Prepare experimental reports, contribute to patents, and author publications.
• Maintain meticulous lab notebooks and documentation to company standards.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
• Ensure safety and compliance in all research activities.
