Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Quantum Chemistry Specialist for a fully remote role. You will perform advanced quantum chemical calculations, develop computational methods, and guide research directions in collaboration with a global team.

Requires a Ph.D. in Quantum Chemistry or related field and 6+ years of experience with Gaussian, ORCA, NWChem, plus strong Python/Bash scripting and HPC project management skills.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Quantum Chemistry, Theoretical Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral or industrial experience in quantum chemistry research.
• Proficiency with quantum chemistry software (Gaussian, ORCA, NWChem).
• Strong theoretical background in quantum mechanics and computational methods.
• Experience programming for scripting and data analysis (Python, Bash).
• Ability to manage complex HPC-driven projects and collaborate remotely.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level quantum chemical calculations (DFT, coupled cluster) to investigate electronic structure and reactivity.
• Develop and apply advanced computational methodologies for modeling complex chemical systems.
• Analyze and interpret quantum chemical results to provide insights into phenomena and materials.
• Collaborate with experimental scientists to guide research directions and interpret data.
• Develop and maintain computational scripts and workflows for efficient calculations and data analysis.
• Mentor junior computational chemists and guide research efforts.
