Job summary

WuXi AppTec seeks a Senior Project Manager or Associate Director to lead projects within STA and WuXi's API and Drug Product development and manufacturing divisions. The role coordinates client interactions, technical teams, and business development to drive proposals from inception through completion.

The position is remote within the United States and requires fluency in English and Mandarin, with ~25% travel and strong communication across functions.

Qualifications

• Requires Master's (MS) or PhD in life sciences; chemistry background preferred.
• Minimum 4 years in pharma or CRO/CMO; experience in API process R&D and/or Drug Product R&D/manufacturing.
• Prior project management experience or external research collaborations; PMP certification is desired.
• Strong project management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; cross-functional collaboration across technical, business, and operations domains.
• Understanding of pharmaceutical industry and small molecule drug development; 5+ years in CMC/process development and GMP manufacturing.
• Experience in a CRO/CMO environment preferred; MS Office tools experience including MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Lead project initiation and planning efforts and assist in project execution.
• Set project objectives, timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements.
• Monitor progress to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery and report to stakeholders.
• Assist technical teams with risk assessment and implement corrective actions.
• Act as liaison with client, manage day-to-day communications, and organize meetings.
• Represent the company in meetings, prepare agendas/minutes, and follow up actions.
• Assess results and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Support business development by attending customer visits, conferences, and trade shows.
• Contribute to proposals and timelines with input from stakeholders for new or changed client relationships.
