Job summary

First American is seeking a Product Underwriting Counsel to lead AI-enabled underwriting strategy for title insurance products. You will work with product, engineering, data science, and legal teams to shape risk management, operational workflows, and regulatory compliance across the product line.

The role requires a JD, bar admission, and 3–5 years in product underwriting counsel or 7–10 years in title underwriting/real estate law, plus strong communication and strategic skills.

Qualifications

• Law degree and bar admission.
• 3–5 years in product underwriting counsel; or 7–10 years in title underwriting or real estate law.
• Understanding of AI-assisted workflows and ML concepts for underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Lead underwriting vision and strategy for AI-enabled products.
• Identify and manage title insurance, regulatory, and model risks.
• Provide subject matter expertise to product, design, and data science teams.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and risk stakeholders to ensure responsible AI use.
• Translate complex real estate concepts into actionable product guidance.
