Job summary

Karman, Inc. is seeking a Technical Lead, Power Applications, to coordinate data scientists and software engineers, drive end-to-end power control and orchestration products, and set scalable engineering standards.

The role blends leadership with hands-on coding across Python and systems languages, with a focus on reliability, scale, and cross-team collaboration. The position can be fully remote in the United States, with periodic travel for retreats and on-site engagements as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with leadership on complex production systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders across teams.
• Strong project management and technical planning, translating requirements into designs.
• Experience taking software from prototype to production in evolving platforms.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one systems language (C++, Rust, or Go).
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of time.

Responsibilities

• Enable the Power Applications team to own end-to-end lifecycle of power control and orchestration applications, from algorithm development to deployment and maintenance.
• Contribute to the codebase and define/own code quality standards and workflows.
• Coordinate data scientists and engineers, aligning design and quality through architecture and reviews.
• Design continuous delivery workflows bridging prototype Python to deployed Rust/other language code.
• Act as the technical interface between Power Applications and other teams, defining interfaces and SLAs.
• Contribute to system architecture discussions to ensure subsystems fit the Karman platform.
• Build for reliability and scale across experiments, staging, and production environments.
