Job summary

Karman is seeking an Applications Engineer, Data Center Hardware to own the electrical power integration surface between Karman and customer data center environments. You will design and validate rack-level power distribution and sequencing, lead installation procedures, and coordinate with customer teams to ensure successful deployments.

The role emphasizes hands-on engagement, lab validation prior to customer sites, and influence over future processes in a founding Application Engineering

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data center network engineering, electrical power systems, or rack-level infra.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
• Deep rack-level networking knowledge: switching, VLANs, varied topologies
• Strong understanding of rack-level power distribution (PDUs, power shelves, redundancy, sequencing)
• Experience configuring rack infrastructure and integrating new hardware using SSH/serial, Wireshark, NetBox/DCIM tooling
• Experience designing installation and validation procedures with checklists
• Ability to debug power, thermal, mechanical, and networking domains
• Strong communication skills; translate requirements for engineers and operations
• High learning agility; ramp quickly in a fast-moving product environment
• Willingness to travel periodically to customer sites and deployments

Responsibilities

• Design and validate electrical power integration, including PDUs, power shelves, redundancy architectures, and sequencing.
• Build and validate complete rack configurations in lab before deployment, focusing on power system design.
• Create and own installation checklists and procedures for customer sites; ensure they are precise and repeatable.
• Execute installation checklists and sign off on electrical power integration during initial deployments.
• Debug rack-level issues spanning power, thermal, mechanical, and networking.
• Coordinate with customer network teams to align power integration with topologies and requirements.
• Lead customer-facing technical calls and on-site visits to gather requirements.
• Create and maintain integration artifacts: checklists, guides, KPI trackers, after-action reports.
• Support TechOps with electrical power expertise for escalated incidents.
• Develop repeatable processes and documentation for the Application Engineering function.
• Serve as feedback loop between deployments and core engineering for product improvements.
• Participate in on-call rotation for 24x7 customer support
