RTX in East Hartford, CT, seeks a Senior Principal Engineer in Materials and Process Modeling to advance modeling tools for gas turbine engines. You will lead a focused team, applying atomistic methods (MD/DFT) and ML-informed approaches to simulations, collaborating with design, lifing, and tech development units.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in materials modeling, aerospace alloys, and programming (FORTRAN, Python, C++). The role offers a remote work option within the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in Materials and Process Modeling Techniques OR an Advanced Degree with 5+ years of experience.
• U.S. person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorization required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and maturation of modeling tools for gas turbine engines.
• Direct materials modeling team in a fast-moving environment.
• Collaborate with technology development, characterization, lifing, and design teams.
• Lead technical projects including planning, cost estimation and execution.
• Identify and pursue external funding opportunities including government contracts.
