Job summary

The Senior Industry Specialist, Industrial Innovation & Carbon Management at Great Plains Institute (GPI) will lead policy and regulatory analysis to accelerate decarbonization in industry and manufacturing across the Midwest and beyond. The role requires translating complex policy topics into actionable guidance for policymakers, utilities, and industry leaders.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in public policy, energy, climate, or related field.
• Ability to translate and communicate complex scientific, economic, and policy issues to diverse lay audiences.
• Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent time and deadline management, project management, and team relationship skills.
• Knowledge of climate, energy, and/or environmental issues is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis of legislative, regulatory, utility, financing, and market issues affecting industrial innovation and energy affordability.
• Monitor policy developments and assess implications for stakeholders and GPI initiatives.
• Identify barriers to deployment of innovative industrial technologies and develop strategies to address them.
• Develop reports, roadmaps, and policy briefs to communicate complex topics to diverse audiences.
• Lead assigned project workstreams from planning through completion, with stakeholder coordination.
