Job summary

Prairie Island Indian Community seeks a motivated Net Zero Specialist to drive decarbonization and clean energy strategies across PIIC. You will shape projects, manage data, and coordinate with multiple teams to advance sustainability goals.

The role offers hybrid work up to three days per week, with emphasis on grants, procurement, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Strong communication, project management, and analytical skills are essential, as is sensitivity to Native American culture

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience and 3+ years on clean energy projects.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to engage audiences.
• Proactive, self-motivated, with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• Sensitive to Native American culture.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.
• Pass drug screen (UA) and federal background check.

Responsibilities

• Advance departmental initiatives aligned with PIIC’s Dakota Vision, Mission, and Values.
• Develop detailed project plans with milestones, timelines, and resources.
• Manage day-to-day project activities within scope and budget.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute projects.
• Identify and evaluate grant/funding opportunities to support clean energy projects.
• Develop proposals and manage grant applications from start to finish.
• Support post-award grant/funding administration, including reporting.
• Design and implement procurement strategies aligned with Net Zero objectives.
• Develop procurement documents and evaluate suppliers and products.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and communications for leadership.
• Develop employee training and awareness initiatives for sustainability.
• Plan and facilitate community Net Zero events.
• Collect and analyze decarbonization data and benchmarking.
