Job summary

Cedar is seeking an experienced Platform Testing Engineer to accelerate a large test suite, improve service-to-service testing, and embed testing into CI/CD. You will own projects end to end, write production-quality code in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, and collaborate with senior engineers to raise test quality across our distributed architecture.

This role is remote across the United States; most roles offer flexibility to work from home or in the office.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years in software engineering, or as an SDET with substantial software development responsibilities.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Deep knowledge of testing strategies from unit through end-to-end, and hands-on use of frameworks such as pytest, Jest, Vitest, Cypress, or Playwright.
• You've implemented CI/CD pipelines, including collecting and reporting on test results.
• You've measured test suites through metrics such as coverage, reliability, execution time, or flakiness.
• Ability to work cross-functionally to improve processes, and to bring in the right people when a problem needs broader input.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including turning testing strategy into clear standards and documentation.
• Comfort working independently once a problem is defined, and genuine curiosity about how software fails.

Responsibilities

• Build tooling and metrics that make test quality visible, including reliability, flakiness, and coupling
• Establish code-coverage measurement and help teams close gaps in the highest-risk areas
• Improve service-to-service testing as our architecture becomes more distributed
• Integrate testing capabilities into CI/CD and developer workflows with Platform engineers
• Make great testing easier through better frameworks, documentation, and standards
• Help connect tests to product behavior and feature specifications
• Own projects end to end, from investigation to adoption, and measure their impact on quality
