Job summary

Focus is a fully remote digital services firm delivering civic tech solutions from coast to coast in the United States. We seek a Senior Test Software Engineer to lead quality engineering architecture, automate testing, and drive CI/CD across multiple product verticals.

You will architect scalable UI and API test suites with Playwright (TypeScript), build synthetic data generators in Python, and collaborate with vendors and government-facing stakeholders to ensure secure, compliant releases.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in full-stack development and tooling using TypeScript and Python
• Experience writing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and using IaC tools like Terraform
• Experience designing complex multi-service systems with external integrations
• Proven track record in cross-functional agile teams and communicating updates to stakeholders
• Strong debugging skills for distributed multi-vendor systems and microservices
• Prior federal government digital service or civic tech project experience
• Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, FedRAMP compliance, and observability tooling
• Experience creating synthetic test data generators or mock data services for enterprise integrations

Responsibilities

• Lead quality engineering architecture and automation strategy for civic tech infra
• Architect, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end automated UI and API tests with Playwright and TypeScript
• Design automated data generation tools and synthetic applicant profile generators using Python and REST APIs
• Author and review test strategies, specs, and quality risk assessments
• Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines with quality gates and feature-driven promotion
• Coordinate with client leads and vendor teams to enable self-service and smooth releases
• Support cloud infra updates using Terraform and integrate automated security scans within FedRAMP workflows
