Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a remote Senior Analytics Scientist to develop and apply advanced modeling methods. You will collect and cleanse data, build decision-support software, and produce actionable insights for management.

You will identify opportunities, create models for testing, and present recommendations to leadership. Candidates should have PhD or Masters with relevant experience and strong programming and database skills.

Qualifications

• PhD or Masters with 3 years' experience in engineering, statistics, forecasting, or data analysis.
• Programming languages including Java, Python, SQL, SAS.
• Knowledge of optimization/simulation software such as CPLEX, Gurobi, FlexSim.
• Knowledge of mathematical optimization and solution methods for linear and integer programming.
• Knowledge of designing and building machine learning models.
• Knowledge of relational database systems Oracle, DB2 and Teradata.
• Knowledge of big data implementations (Hadoop), preferred.
• Knowledge of ESRI technology, preferred.
• Strong computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) with experience using statistical software and data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Identify business opportunities and model operational problems to assess feasibility and impact.
• Identify performance improvements via data analysis and develop decision-support tools.
• Develop business plans and present to senior management with implementation recommendations.
• Design data collection systems to optimize data quality and efficiency.
• Identify, analyze, interpret and visualize trends in complex data sets.
• Evaluate transportation networks using optimization and simulation models.
• Research cutting edge technologies to support best practices in transportation analytics.
• Develop and test models for strategic proposals and provide technical support.
• Prepare multimedia presentations and formal reports for senior management.
