Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a senior analytics professional to formulate and apply advanced modeling and decision-support tools to help management make data-driven decisions. The role focuses on collecting, cleansing and analyzing data, and developing software for actionable insights.

Qualifications

• PhD in Industrial Engineering, Math/Statistics, or related quantitative discipline with 3 years' experience in engineering, statistics, forecasting, or data analysis.
• Programming languages include JAVA, Python, SQL, SAS.
• Knowledge of optimization/simulation software such as CPLEX, Gurobi, FlexSim.
• Knowledge of mathematical optimization and solution methods for linear and integer programming.
• Knowledge of designing and building machine learning models.
• Knowledge of relational database systems Oracle, DB2 and Teradata.
• Knowledge of big data implementations (Hadoop), preferred.
• Knowledge of ESRI technology, preferred.
• Strong computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) with experience using statistical software and reporting interfaces, data mining tools, ML techniques and data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Identify business opportunities and model operational problems to assess feasibility and impact.
• Identify performance improvement opportunities via data analysis and develop decision-support tools.
• Develop concepts into business plans and present to senior management with implementation recommendations.
• Develop and implement data collection systems to optimize data quality.
• Identify, analyze, interpret and visualize trends in complex data sets.
• Evaluate alternative systems or networks using financial, geographic or operational models.
• Research cutting-edge technologies to support best practices in transportation or networks.
• Provide project support or design models for testing and evaluation of strategic proposals.
• Use multi-media presentations and formal reports to present analyses to senior management.
• Coordinate personnel involved in projects and ensure administrative/technical alignment.
• Comply with all laws/regulations and company policies.
