Job summary

Internet2 is seeking a Senior Network Software Engineer to advance network service automation within the Infrastructure Systems and Services group. You will design, develop, and operate automation packages, focusing on Python-based workflows across a multi-vendor environment.

You’ll collaborate on NSO-related platform initiatives, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and help shape service design and roadmaps. Remote-friendly, travel 2–4 times/year, with a strong emphasis on production-grade software

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years of progressive software engineering or platform engineering experience.
2+ years of Python as a primary language.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker in production contexts.
Experience with Git and collaborative development practices.
Ability to work in a remote, multi-time-zone environment.
Domestic travel 2-4 times per year.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain network service automation packages and workflows in Python.
Collaborate on platform initiatives and NSO-related infrastructure services.
Build automation tooling and CI/CD pipelines to support IaC practices.
Contribute to containerization efforts and API development.
Support operational activities including on-call and incident response.
Carry out other duties as assigned.
