Job summary

Airbnb is seeking an experienced machine learning professional to advance query understanding within the Relevance and Personalization team. You will design and deploy models that power search, ranking, and recommendations across stays, experiences, and services.

You will work with large-scale data pipelines, modern NLP techniques, and LLMs to extract intent, entities, and location context, enabling precise guest-host matching and improved user experiences.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience in Applied ML / NLP.
• Strong programming skills in Python/Scala/Java/C++ and data engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML models for search and personalization at scale.
• Build query understanding capabilities including autocomplete, smart compose, tagging, and intent modeling.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, operations and data scientists to quantify impact and prioritize ML features.
• Productionize ML pipelines and maintain end-to-end systems with batch and real-time components.
• Leverage ML tools and infrastructure to create low-latency, high-performing models.
