Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Data Engineer for Market Data on the Institutional Markets team. You will build and operate real-time market data systems with a focus on low latency and high throughput across the platform.

You will design feed handlers, normalization pipelines, and distribution components, improving reliability through observability and incident response while shipping features end-to-end in a demanding trading environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience building and maintaining production low-latency systems.
• Hands-on experience with at least one area of market data infrastructure (feed handlers, normalization, or distribution).
• Proficiency in low-latency Java (or C++) and familiarity with high-throughput messaging frameworks (Aeron, SBE, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain market data components including feed handlers, normalization pipelines, distribution systems, and venue connectivity.
• Design and implement low-latency, high-throughput services for real-time market data consumed by trading systems across the platform.
• Drive reliability and performance improvements through observability, on-call participation, and incident response.
