Job summary

Horace Mann is seeking a Senior Investment Operations Analyst to own critical investment reporting, data quality and portfolio support for the company’s investment portfolio, with exposure to fixed income, equity and derivatives. You will also produce routine and ad-hoc reporting for senior management, the Board and regulators.

This Middle Office role reports to the Chief Investment Officer and requires advanced Excel (XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, PivotTables), Bloomberg experience and strong analytical,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 3–5 years relevant experience; insurance investment/middle office preferred.
• Proficient in Excel with XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, PivotTables, and reconciliation of large datasets.
• Strong PowerPoint and data visualization skills.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and cross-team collaboration.
• Professional communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Bloomberg and Bloomberg API experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets to support investment analysis and reporting.
• Generate investment reporting for executive committees and the Board of Directors.
• Produce daily and weekly reports including fixed income trades and unrealized P/L.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes, including AI where appropriate.
• Integrate Bloomberg data sources into analysis and reporting.
• Support portfolio operations with Investment Accounting, external managers, custodians and vendors.
• Manage collateral operations for FHLB spread investment program.
• Prepare data for annual rating agency surveys.
• Other duties as assigned.
