Remote Senior Estimator – Nuclear Construction

Job summary

Aecon is actively seeking a Senior Estimator to lead cost estimation and execution planning for complex construction projects, including nuclear programs. You will prepare estimates for materials, equipment, subcontractors, and labor, and develop budgets for bids. This role allows remote work with onsite Charlotte, NC engagement as needed.

The ideal candidate has an engineering degree and 5–8 years of estimating on large projects, with strong procurement, value engineering, and software skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or an equivalent combination of training.
• Minimum 5 - 8 years of experience within estimating on medium to large construction projects.
• Good knowledge of procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
• Experience with MS Excel, Word, Project, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, P6 or similar estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design reviews for MEP, Civil and Architectural subcontract packages.
• Create sketches, drawings, and specifications to meet client requirements.
• Perform value engineering and constructability reviews during preconstruction.
• Drive production of detailed cost budgets on successfully bid projects.
• Maintain a historical cost database for estimating new work.
• Oversee bids under construction to learn actual costs and methods.
• Execute quantity takeoffs and unit pricing using estimating software.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for pricing information.
• Address addendums, change orders, and tender closings.
• Participate in turnover meetings with Project Management.
