Job summary

CRH Americas Building Products is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance across its North American operations. This remote role requires close collaboration with management, sites, and external partners to ensure air and other permits are maintained and reporting is timely.

You will drive improvement in EMS, review regulatory changes, and develop programs for air quality, stormwater, and hazardous materials, while traveling up to 30% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in EHS, Science or Engineering related fields or relevant experience.
• 3+ Years in EHS and/or Manufacturing with EHS responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills able to reach across the various functional departments to facilitate seamless integration.
• Expert knowledge of air quality or other environmental regulations
• Strong project and process management skills, with experience managing major projects and/or change initiatives.
• Ability to effectively navigate and research regulatory agency and industry related web content.
• Detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Nationally recognized Certifications (FE, PE, CHMM, PMP, CIH) (Preferred)
• OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper, RCRA Training or DOT HazMat Training (Preferred)
• Ability to travel up to 30%
• Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain environmental permits for plants, sites, and projects, especially air permits during Capital Projects and Mergers.
• Prepare and submit USEPA and state reports for facilities with professional service partners, including Annual Emission Inventory and permit modifications.
• Assist in ensuring all compliance or monitoring tests are conducted within permit timeframes.
• Maintain documentation compliance activities such as inspections, audits, complaints, and investigations."
• Report all violations of environmental permits, rules, and regulations to company management and regulatory agencies as required.
• Coordinate, conduct, and teach compliance reviews, inspections, and internal assessments to ensure adherence to all environmental permits, rules, and regulations.
• Keep informed regarding changes to environmental legislation, trends, and best practices and assess impacts on operations.
• Work with sites and projects to review required documents to ensure ongoing compliance and EMA.
• Develop and implement environmental-related requirements and procedures with IPG and CRH.
• Ensure all compliance and annual reports are completed and documented in EMS; inform field employees, managers, and contractors of policy and requirements.
• Develop and implement environmental compliance plans for programs such as air quality, stormwater, oil spill prevention or control, recycling, hazardous materials management, and training.
• Track key compliance metrics and implement systems to improve performance.
• Facilitate improvements to and help maintain site EMS with other analysts.
