Job summary

ONWARD SEARCH is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (R&D) to drive electrical design initiatives for new product development. This role supports a remote team and requires leadership across design, testing, and manufacturing phases.

Ideal candidates bring a BSEE or equivalent, 5+ years in power distribution design, and proficiency with NRTL processes and relevant UL/IEEE/CSA standards. AutoCAD skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BSEE or equivalent experience; master's degree preferred.
• At least 5 years in designing low and/or medium voltage power distribution equipment or related products.
• Experience with NRTL evaluation, testing, and certification processes.
• Familiarity with UL 891, UL 1558, UL 508A, IEEE/ANSI C37.20.2, C37.04, C37.06, C37.09, CSA C22.2, NFPA 70E standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the electrical design and development of power and control systems for new products, from concept to manufacturing.
• Create detailed electrical specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials with cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with testing labs to define certification scope and test plans for product qualification.
• Support testing activities, analyze results, and iterate designs for performance and compliance.
• Serve as the primary technical contact during manufacturing and testing phases, providing troubleshooting and guidance.
