Responsibilities

• Drive development and execution of ESCA's state strategy across core strategies: provoke, legitimize, win.
• Set strategic direction and oversee ESCA's policy agenda on affordability, cash policies, tax credits, and anti-monopoly/AI regulation.
• Direct ESCA's and ESCA Action's work in Sacramento using legislative advocacy, coalition-building, and public events to cultivate champions.
• Implement multi-year strategy to build political power in California and engage regional and grassroots partners.
• Serve as ESCA's primary spokesperson to media and external stakeholders, coordinating statewide narrative with ESP communications.
• Collaborate with national ESP leadership on federal campaigns and align CA-based execution to broader national goals.
• Direct external consultants and lobbyists to expand capacity and execute high-impact advocacy campaigns.
• Execute fundraising strategy to fund ESCA's annual budget and cultivate major donors and institutional funders.
• Set a long-term growth vision for ESCA, expanding geographic footprint, program scope, and budget.
• Manage budget, forecasting, expenses, and operational systems to support growth.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain a diverse, high-performing team and manage direct reports.
• Be an active member of ESP's Senior Leadership Team and collaborate with national policy, communications, and operations leaders.
• Partner with ESP leadership to scale the state affiliate model and establish CA as a blueprint for state-level economic justice.
