Job summary

Our client Eliassen Group seeks a Senior DBA to support database operations for a portfolio of online and batch apps, focusing on PostgreSQL and MySQL on Amazon RDS. You will design solutions, automate deployments, manage upgrades, and drive performance improvements while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Due to federal security requirements, applicants must be a US citizen or permanent resident with an active Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

Experience configuring and administering AWS Glue databases and Athena tables.
Knowledge of AWS services including Lambda, Lake Formation, QuickSight, DynamoDB, Redshift, MSK/Kafka, Kinesis, ElastiCache, OpenSearch.
Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for PostgreSQL and MySQL workloads on AWS ECS/EKS or via RDS Proxy.
Experience supporting Java and PySpark applications.
Experience developing and executing Ansible scripts.

Responsibilities

Analyze requirements to propose database solutions for online and batch Java-based and AWS Glue/Apache Spark systems.
Coordinate with teams to define data flows and testing support for database components.
Design and deploy scalable PostgreSQL and MySQL solutions on Amazon RDS with schema/data model improvements.
Create and maintain database scripts, procedures, and views using Python, Shell, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
Manage database operations including upgrades, restores, and replication with minimal oversight.
Monitor and optimize capacity and performance for RDS and storage autoscaling.
