Job summary

Remote Senior DBA role with Eliassen Group supporting a Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement program. You will design and optimize PostgreSQL and MySQL on Amazon RDS, automate deployments, manage upgrades and recovery, and drive performance improvements across online and batch applications.

Due to security requirements, applicants must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident with an active Public Trust clearance. W2 options include a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be United States Citizen or Permanent Resident with active Public Trust clearance.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL on Amazon RDS.
• Experience automating deployments with Python, Shell, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with AWS services and containerization.
• Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and design database solutions for online and batch Java-based and AWS Glue/Spark systems.
• Coordinate with business and technology teams to define system requirements and data flows.
• Design and deploy scalable PostgreSQL and MySQL on Amazon RDS; optimize schemas and data models.
• Create, deploy, and maintain scripts, stored procedures, tables, triggers, and views using Python, Shell, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
• Manage database operations with upgrades, backups, failover, DR, and user management.
• Communicate and coordinate database changes with management, developers, and users.
• Assess capacity and performance; right-size RDS instances and storage autoscaling.
• Maintain data architecture artifacts and security controls.
• Maintain and test backup and recovery strategies for applications and databases.
• Monitor health, transactions, and resource utilization with CloudWatch Database Insights.
