Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior DBA to support database operations and design improvements for a portfolio of online and batch applications. The role focuses on PostgreSQL and MySQL on Amazon RDS, automation, and performance enhancements, with coordination across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Experience administering AWS Glue databases and Athena tables.
• Experience with AWS services: Lambda, Lake Formation, QuickSight, DynamoDB, Redshift, MSK/Kafka, Kinesis, ElastiCache, and OpenSearch.
• Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) for PostgreSQL/MySQL on ECS/EKS or via RDS Proxy.
• Experience supporting Java and PySpark applications.
• Experience developing and executing Ansible scripts.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements to propose database solutions for online and batch Java-based and AWS Glue/Apache Spark-based systems; troubleshoot deadlocks and long-running queries.
• Coordinate with business/tech teams to define system requirements and data flows; provide testing support for DB components.
• Design and deploy scalable PostgreSQL and MySQL on Amazon RDS; recommend schema and data model improvements.
• Create, deploy, and maintain database scripts, procedures, and views; automate with Python, Shell, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
• Manage DB operations including upgrades, restores, schema changes, security, failover, and DR.
