Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior DBA for a fully remote contract to support a Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement program. You will design and optimize PostgreSQL and MySQL databases on Amazon RDS, automate deployments with Python, Shell, Ansible, and CloudFormation, and drive performance and capacity improvements across online and batch applications.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and administering PostgreSQL and MySQL databases in AWS
• Experience with Amazon RDS deployments and migrations
• Experience automating deployments with Python, Shell, Ansible, and CloudFormation
• Experience monitoring and optimizing database performance and capacity
• Experience with disaster recovery, backups, and failover in cloud environments
• Familiarity with AWS Glue, Athena, and related data services
• Experience containerizing databases with Docker/Kubernetes on AWS

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and design database solutions for online and batch Java-based and AWS Glue/Apache Spark systems
• Coordinate with teams to define data flows and testing for database components
• Design and deploy scalable PostgreSQL and MySQL solutions on Amazon RDS
• Create and maintain database scripts, stored procedures, and views using automation and scripting
• Manage database operations including upgrades, restores, and replication
• Monitor health and performance using CloudWatch Database Insights
• Maintain data architecture artifacts and backup/recovery strategies
