Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior DBA to support database operations for a Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement program. The role focuses on PostgreSQL and MySQL design on Amazon RDS, with automation, upgrades, recovery, and performance tuning across online and batch applications. Remote work and w2 status are available.

Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident with an active Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS Glue databases and Athena tables.
• Experience with AWS services including Lambda, Lake Formation, QuickSight, DynamoDB, Redshift, MSK/Kafka, Kinesis, ElastiCache, OpenSearch.
• Containerization experience with Docker or Kubernetes for PostgreSQL/MySQL workloads on ECS/EKS or via RDS Proxy.
• Experience supporting Java and PySpark applications.
• Experience developing and executing Ansible scripts.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business and technical requirements to propose database solutions for online and batch Java-based and AWS Glue/Apache Spark-based systems.
• Coordinate with business and technology teams to define system requirements and data flows.
• Design and deploy scalable PostgreSQL and MySQL solutions on Amazon RDS and recommend schema/data model improvements.
• Create, deploy, and maintain database scripts, stored procedures, and data structures with automation and scripting.
• Manage database operations including upgrades, restores, schema changes, and disaster recovery with minimal oversight.
• Monitor database health and performance using tools like Amazon CloudWatch Database Insights.
