Job summary

Foley is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to own the reliability, security, and performance of our cloud-based data platforms. You will support our AWS data warehouse environment and collaborate with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and business leaders to scale data systems securely as the business grows.

You will lead the administration of SQL Server and Redshift, design HA/DR strategies, and drive automation and AI-enabled improvements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience managing production database environments.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, indexing, and HA/DR.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS data warehouse technologies, including Amazon Redshift.
• Proven experience managing database security, access controls, and permissions in regulated or security-conscious environments.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with Product, Infrastructure, Engineering, and leadership teams.
• Demonstrated AI fluency and curiosity, with experience using automation or AI-enabled tools to improve reliability, monitoring, or efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own database reliability, performance, and availability.
• Lead administration, monitoring, tuning, and optimization of SQL Server and Redshift environments.
• Design and maintain HA/DR strategies that meet business SLAs.
• Own and optimize AWS-based data warehouse architecture for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Partner with Data and Analytics teams to support reporting, analytics, and downstream AI use cases.
• Own database security across platforms, including user access, roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing.
• Partner with Infra and Security teams to ensure compliance with internal standards and external requirements.
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to data access, integrity, and availability.
• Work with Product, Engineering, Infra, and Analytics teams to align database solutions with product and business needs.
• Improve reliability through automation, scripting, and proactive monitoring.
• Leverage modern tooling and AI-assisted capabilities to reduce manual work and improve operational signal.
• Help drive our database architecture with systems thinking mindset.
• Use AI to maintain, scale, and improve our DBA operations and architecture.
