Job summary

Forward Financing seeks a Principal Data Scientist to define the data science vision and drive high-impact analytics from concept to production. You will shape multi-year roadmaps, set modeling standards, and partner with executives across engineering, product, underwriting, and sales.

You will lead flagship data initiatives, build scalable ML pipelines, and mentor senior data scientists while communicating complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Deep experience building and deploying credit risk models, esp. underwriting, in fintech or financial services.
• 10+ years of hands-on model development and deployment with advanced statistical and ML methods.
• Experience with real-time models, decision engines, and production-grade ML pipelines preferred.
• Expert in Python, SQL and Git; cloud deployment experience (AWS/SageMaker).
• Ability to influence technical direction and mentor senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of high-stakes statistical/ML models in ambiguous spaces.
• Drive end-to-end delivery from problem framing to deployment and monitoring.
• Shape the data science roadmap and advise senior leadership on technical strategy.
• Mentor data scientists across levels and raise technical standards across the team.
