Job summary

Veracyte is seeking a talented data scientist III (contractor) to join the Data Analysis Team and work on AI/ML modelling using real‑world insurance and EHR data. You will extract, transform, and analyze large datasets to define clinical treatments and outcomes, communicating insights through visual storytelling.

The role emphasizes survival modelling, statistical analysis, and collaboration with clinicians, bioinformaticians, and other researchers in a fast-paced, remote‑friendly environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Statistics, Data Science, or equivalent field or Master with 4+ years of relevant post‑graduate experience.
• Experience with real‑world data of insurance claims and EHR records.
• Expert in SQL and R or equivalent.
• Strong data cleaning, manipulation and visualization using tidyverse, ggplot in R or equivalent.
• Proficient in statistical analysis, especially survival modelling and multivariate regression.

Responsibilities

• Analyze real‑world data to identify patterns for clinical and business cases, including treatment patterns and costs.
• Identify key clinical events (cancer progression, treatments) using CPT, NDC, ICD codes.
• Conduct statistical analysis and survival modelling for events from real‑world data.
• Visualize findings and summarize them in a coherent story.
• Support data scientists in developing digital pathology AI models.
• Collaborate with bioinformaticians, statisticians, and medical experts on manuscripts.
