Job summary

Sola is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to own the production databases powering analytics, transactions, and caching. You will manage Redshift, MySQL, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, plus the Cube.js semantic layer, ingestion pipelines, and Terraform-managed infrastructure.

This hands-on role requires collaboration with Engineering, DevOps, and Security to keep the data platform fast, secure, and scalable.

Qualifications

• 7+ years database administration across relational and NoSQL
• 2+ years of production Amazon Redshift experience
• Strong MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server administration skills
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and schema design
• PCI DSS or SOC 2 regulated environments
• Experience diagnosing query performance issues in high throughput environments
• Infrastructure as code experience, preferably Terraform
• Experience with data pipelines and ETL tooling (DMS, Glue, Step Functions)

Responsibilities

• Own the performance, availability, and cost of the Amazon Redshift data warehouse
• Administer and tune Cube.js as the semantic analytics layer
• Administer production MySQL/Aurora MySQL and SQL Server including backups & upgrades
• Lead PostgreSQL schema design and administration for new services
• Profile and tune queries and implement monitoring and alerting
• Own warehouse ingestion pipelines (AWS DMS, CDC, Glue, Step Functions)
• Design DynamoDB table structures and caching strategies with ElastiCache
• Develop runbooks, DR procedures, and incident response readiness
• Collaborate with Engineering, DevOps, and Security on architecture and capacity planning
