Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data products for analytics at enterprise scale. You will partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data solutions and help advance data quality, governance, and modern cloud architectures.

This remote role expects about 40 hours per week with occasional travel to Humana offices. Salary range is $117,600 to $161,700 per year, with bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in Data Engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL for data modeling, query optimization, and large-scale data processing.
• Strong experience with Python for data engineering, automation, and pipeline development.
• Experience designing and maintaining enterprise-scale ETL/ELT solutions.
• Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling concepts.
• Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD, source control, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes supporting enterprise data and analytics needs.
• Build and optimize data models, curated datasets, and data products for reporting, operational analytics, and advanced analytical use cases.
• Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, architects, and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Establish and promote best practices for data quality, testing, monitoring, documentation, lineage, and governance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production data issues while ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability of data platforms.
• Contribute to data platform modernization initiatives, including cloud-based architectures and engineering automation.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture planning.
• Mentor and support other engineers while helping drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement initiatives
