Job summary

First Citizens is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Cloud Data & AI Platform. You will build scalable cloud-based data solutions, data pipelines, and data products to enable analytics and data-driven decision-making across the bank.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python, and SQL, and will collaborate with engineers, product partners, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise-scale data platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Cloud Data Platforms, or related technology disciplines.
• OR
• High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Cloud Data Platforms, or related technology disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support scalable data pipelines and data warehouses on AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python, and SQL.
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes and data integrations for operational and analytical workloads.
• Implement data quality controls, reconciliation, tests, and dbt tests for trusted data.
• Optimize pipelines via monitoring, automation, CI/CD, dashboards, and production support.
• Develop monitoring dashboards and metrics to improve platform visibility and reliability.
• Support deployment automation, release validation, and environment promotion.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Contribute to engineering best practices through reviews, documentation and continual improvement.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to improve engineering efficiency and delivery outcomes.
