Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Configuration Analyst II to lead software configuration management and release engineering efforts in a remote role tied to the VA. You will guide CM processes, tooling, and build automation across multiple environments, ensuring compliant, auditable deployments.

The ideal candidate has deep CM/DevOps expertise, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff, with a focus on secure, scalable software delivery for federal programs.

Qualifications

• Hands-on CM and release leadership in large or federal environments.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Experience with source control systems and branching/merging strategies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and artifact repositories.
• Scripting for automation: Bash, PowerShell, Python.
• Knowledge of software quality standards, governance, and training developers.
• Proficiency with work management and documentation tools.
• Ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders and mentor.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software.
• Perform CM and release tasks ensuring parameters documented and compliant with standards.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools to improve software modeling and development.
• Design and implement build procedures to support software product development and use.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build/deploy processes across projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and train junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
