Job summary

Shulman Rogers is seeking an experienced Commercial Real Estate Paralegal for its Potomac office. The role requires extensive CRE transaction experience, with emphasis on title insurance, title examination, and complex closings.

The candidate will independently manage transactions from due diligence through closing, collaborating with attorneys, clients, lenders, and underwriters. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in sophisticated CRE deals, strong knowledge of lending and recording

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience handling sophisticated commercial real estate transactions.
• Extensive commercial title insurance and underwriting expertise, including ability to independently manage complete commercial closings.
• Must hold a valid Title Producer License in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
• Strong knowledge of commercial lending, lien priorities, and recording requirements in MD, DC, and VA.
• Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with affordable housing finance, LIHTC transactions, tax-exempt bonds, and agency financing is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, and commercial lending.
• Examine title reports, ALTA surveys, and UCC searches; identify and resolve title issues.
• Prepare title insurance commitments, endorsements, policies, and closing documents.
• Coordinate due diligence, settlement statements, escrow accounts, disbursements, recordings, and post-closing matters.
• Manage multiple transactions and communicate directly with attorneys, clients, lenders, and other transaction participants.
