Job summary

Great American Insurance Group, Specialty Human Services, seeks a Senior Casualty Claims Specialist. This fully remote role requires occasional travel and involves managing a large claims portfolio, investigating coverage, and negotiating settlements.

You will handle complex liability assessments, maintain detailed claim files, and coordinate with insureds, claimants, and partners, while leveraging strong analytical and negotiation skills. Remote work expected with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in property and casualty claims handling.
• Active adjuster’s license preferred (states CT, FL, KY, NC, NM, SC, TX).
• Completion of or progress toward AIC designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages a large inventory of claims to evaluate compensability/liability, including pre-litigation and litigation claims.
• Plans and conducts claim investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages.
• Determines and negotiates settlements/reserves within prescribed authority; may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
• Conveys information regarding coverage and settlements to insureds, claimants, and external partners.
• Authorizes payments within authority limits and ensures timely payments.
• Maintains accurate and detailed claim files with all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.
