Job summary

People Data Labs, Inc. is seeking a senior backend engineer to help scale our data acquisition and processing platform, building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems and data pipelines that deliver high-quality datasets to customers.

You will work in a remote-first environment, collaborating with data product teams to design and implement new data products and improve ingestion and processing capabilities across datasets.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend or infrastructure experience at scale.
• Proficient in Python, Go, or Rust with async/concurrency.
• Strong software architecture and scalability mindset.
• Solid browser rendering and web app architecture knowledge.
• Experience with networking, HTTP, DNS, proxies.
• Knowledge of distributed systems concepts and backpressure.
• Experience with data ingestion, API integrations, ETL.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix CLI and system tools.
• Familiarity with message queues (Kafka, SQS) and orchestration.
• Experience ensuring data quality across releases.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to data acquisition platform architecture and reliability.
• Develop web crawling technologies to capture and catalog data.
• Build and evolve large-scale distributed data pipelines.
• Design backend services for job orchestration and data flows.
• Model and structure captured data for consistency.
• Improve ingestion systems' speed, scalability, fault-tolerance.
• Collaborate with data product and engineering to create new data products.
