GitLab is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Security Factory: Code Security team to help developers find and fix security issues in code and open source dependencies. You will work across dependency analysis, vulnerability detection, and AI-driven tooling to improve security across the software supply chain.

Qualifications

• Experience building your own LLM tooling, such as a harness, an agent pipeline, or evaluations.
• Production code in a systems language (Go or Rust) with familiarity in Ruby and Python.
• Familiarity with package managers and dependency management (npm, Maven, pip, Bundler, Cargo).
• Security-focused background: vulnerability research, secure code review, or detection rule writing.

Responsibilities

• Act as the direct responsible individual (DRI) for team initiatives from design through delivery.
• Document and test systems to hand off ownership within the team.
• Design and ship analyzers combining deterministic analysis with AI-driven evaluation.
• Package analyzers for CI, AI agent workflows, and CLI tools with standard security reports.
