Job summary

Orionplacement seeks an experienced probate and trust litigation attorney to join a boutique firm in California. You will lead matters from inception through trial and act as the primary client contact, with the flexibility to work fully remote or hybrid, requiring only 2 days per week in the West Los Angeles office.

The role requires 5+ years in probate/trust litigation or 8+ years in civil/family law with strong references.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of probate, trust, and estate litigation experience; OR 8+ years of civil or family law litigation with strong tenure and references.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload and serve as attorney of record.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with courtroom confidence.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and deadline management.
• Comfort advising clients directly and making independent legal judgments.
• Genuine interest in trust and estate law with active development.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead attorney on trust and estate litigation matters from inception through trial.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, memoranda, and other legal documents.
• Take depositions, attend mediations, negotiate settlements, and appear in probate court.
• Advise clients on pre-litigation strategy and litigation risk.
• Manage conservatorship and guardianship proceedings from start to finish.
• Oversee probate administrations from opening to discharge of the personal representative.
• Counsel trustees and beneficiaries on trust administration matters and disputes.
• Research complex issues and translate findings into actionable strategy.

• Manage conservatorship and guardianship proceedings from initiation through ongoing representation.
• Oversee probate administrations from opening proceedings through discharge of the personal representative.
• Counsel trustees and beneficiaries on trust administration matters and disputes.
• Research complex legal issues in trust, estate, and probate law and translate findings into actionable strategy.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar license in good standing.
• 5+ years of probate, trust, and estate litigation experience; OR 8+ years of civil or family law litigation with strong tenure and references.
• Proven ability to independently manage a caseload and serve as attorney of record.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in the courtroom.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational ability, and deadline management.
• Comfortable advising clients directly and making independent legal judgment calls.
