Job summary

BuzzBoard seeks a Principal AI Engineer to own the architecture of its end-to-end AI platform. You’ll design agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, and production-ready services, guiding engineers and ensuring reliable, scalable AI at volume.

You’ll lead the runbook for evaluation, guardrails, and deployment, balancing model intelligence with deterministic logic while mentoring a growing team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in engineering, AI, ML, or data-product work; 3+ years hands-on with GenAI/LLM systems.
• Production GenAI experience — built or scaled systems with real traffic.
• Deep working knowledge of LLMs and SLMs: prompt engineering, structured outputs, tool and function calling.
• Hands‑on with at least two major LLM ecosystems and reasoning about tradeoffs.
• RAG built for real: vector stores, embeddings, semantic search, retrieval quality.
• Hands‑on with at least one agentic framework and underlying concepts (memory, state, tool integration).
• Strong Python; comfortable with REST APIs, Docker, cloud platform, CI/CD.
• Demonstrated evaluation work: regression testing, hallucination checks, schema validation, output scoring.
• Track record guiding a small team or owning AI architecture end to end.
• Comfort creating structure in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• AI system architecture for content generation, BI, recommendations, and agentic workflows with reusable patterns.
• Lead the design of agents that reason, call tools, manage state, and fail safely.
• Design end-to-end RAG pipelines, embeddings, metadata, and model-switching strategies.
• Establish evaluation frameworks for production readiness and measurable quality.
• Partner with engineering to ensure deployable, observable, and maintainable AI services.
• Provide technical leadership and translate product requirements into architecture with clear criteria.
