Job summary

Dropzone is seeking a Senior to Principal-level AI Research Engineer to design agentic AI systems and build memory-enabled architectures. You will shape how agents reason, remember, and improve over time, collaborating with product and engineering to translate research into production.

We value ownership, rapid experimentation, and the ability to deploy cutting-edge techniques at scale in a 100% remote setting, with occasional travel to conferences and customer sites.

Qualifications

5+ years in software engineering with GenAI production experience.
Experience building or researching: agent frameworks / tool-using LLMs.
Memory/retrieval systems (RAG, vector DBs).
Familiar with OpenAI’s OpenClaw and Claude Code harness architectures.
Startup mindset with ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast execution.

Responsibilities

Design and implement advanced multi-step reasoning agents (tool use, planning, reflection, self-improvement loops).
Develop frameworks for multi-agent coordination and task decomposition.
Improve reliability, latency, and cost efficiency of agent execution.
Architect short-term and long-term memory subsystems (episodic, semantic, retrieval-based, hybrid).
Define evaluation frameworks and automated pipelines for agent performance.
