Job summary

C.H. Robinson is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Global Forwarding team. You will design scalable software, provide technical leadership, and drive modernization efforts across pricing, booking, and execution. Emphasis on AI-enabled automation and agentic solutions in an enterprise context.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and business stakeholders, and contribute to reliable, production-grade systems while advancing AI capabilities across workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience developing and implementing commercial software.
• Strong experience designing distributed systems, APIs, services, and integrations across multiple applications or domains.
• Experience with database design and development using relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle).
• Experience with non-relational databases and modern data-storage patterns.
• Experience with HTTP, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with unit, integration, acceptance, and automated testing strategies.
• Experience with version control systems (Git, GitHub, TFS, etc.).
• Experience with CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems that span multiple systems, teams, or business domains.
• Ability to translate complex business processes into scalable technical solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and influence architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable software solutions across Global Forwarding.
• Translate business problems into durable technical solutions for pricing, booking, and execution.
• Design AI-enabled workflows to automate knowledge work and reduce manual intervention.
• Develop AI-assisted workflows interpreting unstructured data and triggering actions.
• Establish patterns for reliable enterprise AI including security and governance.
• Experiment rapidly with AI technologies and evolve prototypes into production.
• Define interfaces and develop code across applications, APIs, and data platforms.
• Mentor engineers through architecture discussions and code reviews.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to automate and improve decision support.
• Build integrations across internal platforms, carrier systems, and external partners.
