Job summary

Planet Group is seeking a Sr. Accounting Manager to lead month-end close, ensure accurate journal entries in NetSuite, and strengthen internal controls in a remote, full-time role.

You will review reconciliations for cash, expense, accruals and prepaid accounts, guide a small team, and implement process improvements to deliver timely, audit-ready financial statements. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting, 5+ years in GL or financial statement audits, advanced Excel, NetSuite

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in accounting required.
• 5+ years in GL accounting or financial statement audit; at least 1 year in a leadership role.
• Advanced Excel: lookups, PivotTables, Index/Match; ability to handle large data sets for variance research.
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP; strong reconciliations, flux analysis, prepaid schedules.
• CPA strongly preferred; experience at a large public accounting firm a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and detail orientation; able to meet close deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close activities for cash, spend and expense, corporate card, accrual, and prepaid workstreams; ensure journal entries are accurate in NetSuite.
• Review monthly Spend and Expense and corporate card journal entries; map transactions to GL accounts and department codes.
• Oversee prepaid expense lifecycle: amortization schedules and timely recognition of monthly amortization expense.
• Review monthly accruals for completeness and accuracy; investigate fluctuations and drive reversals/adjustments.
• Perform and review monthly bank, credit card, and prepaid reconciliations; conduct variance analysis to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain robust workpapers and reconciliation documentation to support audit trails and compliance.
• Manage team members by setting expectations, providing coaching, and fostering accountability.
• Identify process breakdowns and implement corrective actions to improve accuracy and efficiency.
