Job summary

Bixal is seeking a Security Engineer to lead security for a federal platform, balancing legacy hardening with modern cloud-based development. You will coordinate with client leads and engineering teams to translate security requirements into actionable decisions that keep delivery on track.

You will work on protecting critical systems while helping transition to a modern cloud platform with an ATO in production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on information security experience securing federal information systems (FISMA).
• Experience with NIST RMF and SP 800-53 Rev.5 controls at Moderate baseline.

Responsibilities

• Run vulnerability scans and lead remediation across Linux, Oracle, and Java components.
• Meet remediation timelines (15/30/60/120 days) and document POA&Ms.
• Harden systems to CIS Level 1 and GSA benchmarks; track end-of-life software.
