Job summary

Bixal is seeking a Director of DevSecOps to lead and grow our DevSecOps practice for federal engagements. This leadership role owns strategy, technical direction, and team development across portfolios, with a focus on secure, scalable cloud-native platforms and modern DevSecOps practices.

The role is remote nationwide in the US, requires 10+ years in DevSecOps or related fields, 5+ years managing teams, and experience with AWS/Azure/GCP and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years in DevSecOps, cloud engineering, platform engineering, SRE, or technical architecture.
• At least 5 years of direct people management experience.
• At least 3 years working with federal government contracts.
• Deep experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and modern DevOps (IaC, CI/CD, containers).
• Strong understanding of secure delivery and compliance in SDLC.
• Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and retain technical talent.
• Experience supporting federal proposals with solutioning or technical content.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and grow the DevSecOps practice including staffing.
• Mentor engineers and create growth paths.
• Foster ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Manage overhead and staffing with Practice Directors.
• Set performance expectations and develop staff.
• Define DevSecOps strategy and standards across programs.
• Design secure, scalable cloud-native platforms (CI/CD, IaC, containers).
• Establish architecture standards and governance per NIST/FISMA/FedRAMP.
• Lead modernization: legacy-to-cloud migrations and automation.
• Escalation point for complex technical challenges across programs.
• Support BD with DevSecOps architecture for proposals.
• Contribute to technical volumes and staffing narratives.
• Represent DevSecOps in client discussions and solutioning.
• Communicate decisions clearly to leadership.
• Inform leadership on practice health and risk.
