Job summary

DreamHost, LLC is seeking a Security Engineer II to protect a large, multi-tenant Linux hosting environment. You will investigate live compromises, build tooling and detections, and review security across our infrastructure and applications.

You will collaborate with Systems, Development, Abuse, and Support to reduce risk, automate where possible, and drive secure practices across the fleet including cloud and on-premise components.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years in security engineering, incident response, app security, offensive security, or systems administration.
• Deep Linux experience (Debian/Ubuntu) and kernel concepts.
• Experience with production systems handling untrusted code and multi-tenant environments.
• Scripting and automation shipped in production using Python/Go/Bash/Perl or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigation and resolution of complex security incidents across teams.
• Design safeguards protecting customer sites, accounts, and infrastructure.
• Conduct vulnerability reviews and risk analysis with actionable remediation guidance.
• Build automation and tooling to improve detection, monitoring, response, and safety.
• Collaborate with Systems, Development, Abuse, and Support to implement controls.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to runbooks and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to security policy, standards, and process (compliance as security).
